Is Fear Of Deprivation Holding You Back? {Video}

Many people fear that they’re going to miss out on their favorite foods once they commit to eating better. They let this fear of missing out hold them back because they assume moving forward will lead to a life of deprivation. However, most of us don’t realize that an unhealthy life and not feeling well leads to deprivation. So, if you are craving change, you need to ask yourself what are you currently deprived of?

Rachel Alvarado:
Hey guys, today, I want to talk about a topic that comes up a lot, and it's deprivation. A lot of times, people think that eating well, living a healthy lifestyle, goes hand in hand with deprivation, right? I mean, I think it's a really common perspective, that eating well, feeling well, means your life is full of deprivation. And I want to tell you it's just not true. So while people are like, "Oh my gosh, why would you give up all these foods? YOLO, I mean you only live once, so eat all the cookies." No, no, no. Okay, when I chose to start eating healthier and start living a healthier life, I also had some of this fear that I was going to feel deprived. But hey, you know what, I was committed to it. So if deprivation was how my life was going to be from here on out, I can figure it out.

Rachel Alvarado:
But what I found out was that wasn't the case at all. What I found out, and I was very surprised by, was that all along I had been living a life of deprivation. Sure, I mean, I wasn't deprived of cookies or Oreos or Cheetos or whatever that was. I wasn't deprived of comfort food, I was depriving myself of life. So once I was able to not spend so much mental energy thinking about food, what I was going to eat, feeling guilty about what I ate, all of that, once I was able to put that to the side, I was able to live my life. I had all this space, all this energy, all this time to focus on things that actually brought me joy, that made me feel good, that made me feel alive.

Rachel Alvarado:
Life is so abundant, and you don't need Oreos. You don't need Cheetos. You don't need whatever your vice is. You don't need it. You can have abundance. Life is beautiful and there's just so much. That's really just the simple point that I want to tell you, is that choosing to eat well, choosing to feel well does not coincide with deprivation. It coincides with abundance. That when you choose foods that serve you, that make you feel better, I feel better physically, I feel better emotionally, and it just all self perpetuating. Like the better I feel, the more I want to get done. The more I get done, the better I feel. It just goes on and on, and the happier I am. So it's just really this cycle of positiveness, but it takes getting over that hump and committing to it and getting rid of those fears of deprivation.

Rachel Alvarado:
But I just want you to know to not let this fear, this false idea, this false perspective of deprivation hold you back, because there's just so much more. There's so much more in life than food, and especially junk food. Also too, you think you can't live without whatever, your Oreos, your Cheetos, or whatever, you think you can’t live without. But as you change and as you get healthier, your palate changes and so those foods aren't even appealing. So it's not like you even feel like you're missing out on those foods at all while you're having this big, abundant life. You think back and you're like, "Oh, how funny that I used to like those foods so much. Weird." Then you're all busy. You're living your happy good life, so that's all. All right, have a good one guys.
